It's been another busy week spent studying The Dark Ages, Monasticism and the Great Kings of France.
I gave my kids first hand experience on the intricate nature of illuminated letters that the monks made by hand. After copying the black and white illustration (to the right) onto tracing paper we proceeded to decorate with brightly colored, metallic paints. I gave them only regular brushes - which were very difficult to work with. We all ended up using toothpicks which gave us more of a feel for how painstakingly the monks worked.

|Mr. Black and White drew up a no-nonsense kingdom of Jo-ville.|
|My Princess created....you guessed it, 'Princess Land' complete with everything!|
